In the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel had come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon’s reign over Israel, in the month Ziv, which is the second month, he began to build Yahweh’s house.

ܘܒܝܬܐ ܕܒܢܐ ܫܠܝܡܘܢ ܠܡܪܝܐ ܫܬܝܢ ܐܡ̈ܝܢ ܐܘܪܟܗ ܘܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܐܡ̈ܝܢ ܦܬܝܗ ܘܬܠܬܝܢ ܐ̈ܡܝܢ ܪܘܡܗ
wbyth' dbn' shlymwn lmry' shthyn 'myn 'wrkh wesryn 'myn pthyh wthlthyn 'myn rwmh
The house which King Solomon built for Yahweh had a length of sixty cubits, and its width twenty, and its height thirty cubits.

ܘܐܣܛܘܐ ܕܩܕܡ ܬܪܥܐ ܕܒܝܬܐ ܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܐ̈ܡܝܢ ܐܘܪܟܗ ܠܘܩܒܠ ܦܬܝܗ ܕܒܝܬܐ ܘܥܣܪ̈ ܐܡ̈ܝܢ ܦܬܝܗ ܠܘܩܒܠ ܐܘܪܟܗ ܕܒܝܬܐ

The porch in front of the temple of the house had a length of twenty cubits, which was along the width of the house. Ten cubits was its width in front of the house.

He made windows of fixed lattice work for the house.

ܘܒܢܐ ܥܠ ܐ̈ܣܘܗܝ ܕܒܝܬܐ ܚܕܪ̈ܬܐ ܟܕ ܚܕܪ ܐܣ̈ܐ ܕܒܝܬܐ ܐܚܕܪ ܠܗܝܟܠܐ ܘܠܒܝܬ ܚܘܣܝܐ ܘܥܒܕ ܚܕܪ̈ܬܐ ܟܕ ܚܕܪ

Against the wall of the house, he built floors all around, against the walls of the house all around, both of the temple and of the inner sanctuary; and he made side rooms all around.

ܚܕܪܬܐ ܬܚܬܝܬܐ ܚܡܫ ܐܡ̈ܝܢ ܦܬܝܗ ܘܡܨܥܝܬܐ ܫܬ ܐ̈ܡܝܢ ܦܬܝܗ ܘܬܠܝܬܝܬܐ ܫܒܥ ܐܡ̈ܝܢ ܦܬܝܗ ܡܛܠ ܕܓܕܢܦ̈ܐ ܥܒܝܕ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܟܕ ܚܕܪ ܡܢ ܠܒܪ ܕܢܗܘܐ ܐܚܝܕ ܐ̈ܣܐ ܒܐ̈ܣܐ
khdrth' thkhthyth' khmsh 'myn pthyh wmtseyth' shth 'myn pthyh wthlythyth' shbe 'myn pthyh mTl dgdnp' ebyd lbyth' kd khdr mn lbr dnhw' 'khyd 's' b's'
The lowest floor was five cubits wide, and the middle was six cubits wide, and the third was seven cubits wide; for on the outside he made offsets in the wall of the house all around, that the beams should not be inserted into the walls of the house.

ܘܒܝܬܐ ܟܕ ܡܬܒܢܐ ܒܟܐ̈ܦܐ ܫ̈ܠܡܠܡܬܐ ܕܫܩܘܠܬܐ ܐܬܒܢܝ ܘܐܪܙܦܬܐ ܘܡܓܙܪܐ ܘܟܠ ܡܐܢ ܕܦܪܙܠܐ ܠܐ ܐܫܬܡܥܘ ܒܒܝܬܐ ܟܕ ܡܬܒܢܐ

The house, when it was under construction, was built of stone prepared at the quarry; and no hammer or ax or any tool of iron was heard in the house while it was under construction.

ܘܬܪܥܐ ܕܚܕܪܬܐ ܡܨܥܝܬܐ ܠܣܛܪܗ ܕܒܝܬܐ ܬܝܡܢܝܐ ܘܒܩܛܪܩܛܐ ܣܠܩܝܢ ܠܡܨܥܝܬܐ ܘܡܢ ܡܨܥܝܬܐ ܣܠܩܝܢ ܠܬܠܝܬܝܬܐ

The door for the middle side rooms was in the right side of the house. They went up by winding stairs into the middle floor, and out of the middle into the third.

ܘܒܢܝܗܝ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܘܫܠܡܗ ܘܛܠܠܗ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܒܓܘ̈ܒܐ ܢܣܝܪ̈ܬܐ ܕܐܪܙܐ
wbnyhy lbyth' wshlmh wTllh lbyth' bgwb' nsyrth' d'rz'
So he built the house and finished it; and he covered the house with beams and planks of cedar.

ܘܒܢܐ ܚܕܪ̈ܬܐ ܥܠ ܟܠܗ ܒܝܬܐ ܚܡܫ ܐ̈ܡܝܢ ܪܘܡܗܝܢ ܘܐܘܚܕܗ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܒܩܝܣ̈ܐ ܕܐܪܙܐ
wbn' khdrth' el klh byth' khmsh 'myn rwmhyn w'wkhdh lbyth' bqys' d'rz'
He built the floors all along the house, each five cubits high; and they rested on the house with timbers of cedar.

ܘܗܘܐ ܦܬܓܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܥܠ ܫܠܝܡܘܢ ܠܡܐܡܪ

Yahweh’s word came to Solomon, saying,

ܒܝܬܐ ܗܢܐ ܕܒܢܝܬ ܐܢ ܬܗܠܟ ܒܩܝ̈ܡܝ ܘܕܝ̈ܢܝ ܬܛܪ ܘܬܥܒܕ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܦܘܩ̈ܕܢܝ ܘܬܗܠܟ ܒܗܘܢ ܐܩܝܡ ܦܬ̈ܓܡܝ ܥܡܟ ܕܐܡܪܬ ܠܕܘܝܕ ܐܒܘܟ
byth' hn' dbnyth 'n thhlk bqymy wdyny thTr wthebd klhwn pwqdny wthhlk bhwn 'qym pthgmy emk d'mrth ldwyd 'bwk
“Concerning this house which you are building, if you will walk in my statutes, and execute my ordinances, and keep all my commandments to walk in them, then I will establish my word with you, which I spoke to David your father.

ܘܐܫܪܐ ܒܓܘ ܒܢ̈ܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ ܘܠܐ ܐܫܒܘܩ ܠܥܡܝ ܐܝܣܪܝܠ

I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.”

ܘܒܢܝܗܝ ܫܠܝܡܘܢ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܘܫܟܠܠܗ

So Solomon built the house and finished it.

ܘܒܢܐ ܐܣ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܒܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܠܓܘ ܒܢܣܪ̈ܐ ܕܐܪܙܐ ܡܢ ܫܬܐ̈ܣܘܗܝ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܫܡ̈ܘܗܝ ܩܪܡܗ ܩܝܣܐ ܡܢ ܠܓܘ ܘܩܪܡ ܫܬܐ̈ܣܘܗܝ ܕܒܝܬܐ ܒܢܣܪ̈ܐ ܕܫܪܘܝܢܐ

He built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar; from the floor of the house to the walls of the ceiling, he covered them on the inside with wood. He covered the floor of the house with cypress boards.

ܘܒܢܐ ܫܠܝܡܘܢ ܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܐ̈ܡܝܢ ܡܢ ܫ̈ܦܘܠܘܗܝ ܕܒܝܬܐ ܒܢܣܪ̈ܐ ܕܐܪܙܐ ܡܢ ܫܬܐ̈ܣܘܗܝ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܫܡ̈ܘܗܝ ܘܒܢܝܗܝ ܡܢ ܠܓܘ ܠܩܕܘܫ ܩ̈ܘܕܫܐ
wbn' shlymwn esryn 'myn mn shpwlwhy dbyth' bnsr' d'rz' mn shth'swhy wedm' lshmwhy wbnyhy mn lgw lqdwsh qwdsh'
He built twenty cubits of the back part of the house with boards of cedar from the floor to the ceiling. He built this within, for an inner sanctuary, even for the most holy place.

ܐܪ̈ܒܥܝܢ ܐ̈ܡܝܢ ܗܘܐ ܒܝܬܐ ܗܝܟܠܐ ܗܘ ܓܘܝܐ
'rbeyn 'myn hw' byth' hykl' hw gwy'
In front of the temple sanctuary was forty cubits long.

ܘܐܪ̈ܙܐ ܩܪܝܡ ܗܘܐ ܒܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܠܓܘ ܘܓܠܝܦ ܗܘܐ ܗ̈ܠܩܐ ܘܒ̈ܛܠܐ ܘܫ̈ܘܫܢܐ ܘܟܘܠܗ ܕܐܪܙܐ ܗܘܐ ܘܟܐܦܐ ܠܐ ܡܬܚܙܝܐ ܗܘܬ ܒܗ

There was cedar on the house within, carved with buds and open flowers. All was cedar. No stone was visible.

ܘܒܝܬ ܩܘܕܫܐ ܒܓܘ ܒܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܠܓܘ ܬܩܢ ܠܡܣܡ ܬܡܢ ܩܐܒܘܬܐ ܕܩܝܡܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ
wbyth qwdsh' bgw byth' mn lgw thqn lmsm thmn q'bwth' dqymh dmry'
He prepared an inner sanctuary in the middle of the house within, to set the ark of Yahweh’s covenant there.

ܘܩܪܡ ܒܝܬ ܩܘܕܫܐ ܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܐ̈ܡܝܢ ܐܘܪܟܗ ܘܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܐܡ̈ܝܢ ܦܬܝܗ ܘܥܣܪ̈ܝܢ ܐ̈ܡܝܢ ܪܘܡܗ ܘܩܪܡܗ ܕܗܒܐ ܣܢܝܢܐ ܘܩܪܡ ܠܡܕܒܚܐ ܒܐܪ̈ܙܐ
wqrm byth qwdsh' esryn 'myn 'wrkh wesryn 'myn pthyh wesryn 'myn rwmh wqrmh dhb' snyn' wqrm lmdbkh' b'rz'
Within the inner sanctuary was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in width, and twenty cubits in its height. He overlaid it with pure gold. He covered the altar with cedar.

ܘܩܪܡܗ ܫܠܝܡܘܢ ܠܒܝܬܐ ܡܢ ܠܓܘ ܒܕܗܒܐ ܣܢܝܢܐ ܘܥܒܕ ܦܪܘܣܬܕܐ ܩܕܡ ܒܝܬ ܡܩܕܫܐ ܘܩܪܡܗ ܕܗܒܐ
wqrmh shlymwn lbyth' mn lgw bdhb' snyn' webd prwsthd' qdm byth mqdsh' wqrmh dhb'
So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold. He drew chains of gold across before the inner sanctuary, and he overlaid it with gold.

ܘܠܟܠܗ ܒܝܬܐ ܩܪܡ ܕܗܒܐ ܥܕܡܐ ܕܫܠܡ ܟܘܠܗ ܒܝܬܐ ܘܟܠܗ ܡܕܒܚܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܡܩܕܫܐ ܩܪܡܗ ܕܗܒܐ
wlklh byth' qrm dhb' edm' dshlm kwlh byth' wklh mdbkh' dbyth mqdsh' qrmh dhb'
He overlaid the whole house with gold, until all the house was finished. He also overlaid the whole altar that belonged to the inner sanctuary with gold.

ܘܥܒܕ ܒܝܬ ܩܘܕܫܐ ܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܟܪ̈ܘܒܝܢ ܕܩܝܣܐ ܡܫܘܚܬܐ ܥܣܪ̈ ܐܡ̈ܝܢ ܐܘܪܟܗ
webd byth qwdsh' thryn krwbyn dqys' mshwkhth' esr 'myn 'wrkh
In the inner sanctuary he made two cherubim of olive wood, each ten cubits high.

ܘܚܡܫ ܐܡ̈ܝܢ ܦܬܝܗ ܕܟܪܘܒܐ ܚܕ ܘܚܡܫ ܐ̈ܡܝܢ ܟܢܦܗ ܕܟܪܘܒܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܘܥܣܪ̈ ܐ̈ܡܝܢ ܡܢ ܪܝܫ ܓܦܘ̈ܗܝ ܘܥܕܡܐ ܠܪܝܫ ܓܦܘ̈ܗܝ
wkhmsh 'myn pthyh dkrwb' khd wkhmsh 'myn knph dkrwb' 'khrn' wesr 'myn mn rysh gpwhy wedm' lrysh gpwhy
Five cubits was the length of one wing of the cherub, and five cubits was the length of the other wing of the cherub. From the tip of one wing to the tip of the other was ten cubits.

ܘܥܣܪ̈ ܐ̈ܡܝܢ ܟܪܘܒܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܡܫܘܚܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܘܩܘܡܬܐ ܚܕܐ ܠܬܪ̈ܝܗܘܢ ܟܪ̈ܘܒܐ
wesr 'myn krwb' 'khrn' mshwkhth' khd' wqwmth' khd' lthryhwn krwb'
The other cherub was ten cubits. Both the cherubim were of one measure and one form.

ܘܪܘܡܗ ܕܟܪܘܒܐ ܚܕ ܥܣܪ̈ ܐ̈ܡܝܢ ܘܗܟܢܐ ܟܪܘܒܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ

One cherub was ten cubits high, and so was the other cherub.

ܘܥܒܕ ܟܪ̈ܘܒܐ ܒܓܘ ܒܝܬܐ ܓܘܝܐ ܘܦܪܣ ܓܦܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܕܟܪ̈ܘܒܐ ܘܕܒܩܬ ܟܢܦܗ ܕܚܕ ܒܐܣܬܐ ܘܟܢܦܗ ܕܟܪܘܒܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܕܒܩܬ ܒܐܣܬܐ ܐܚܪܬܐ ܘܓܦܝ̈ܗܘܢ ܕܒܡܨܥܬ ܒܝܬܐ ܢܩܝܦܝܢ ܚܕ ܠܚܕ
webd krwb' bgw byth' gwy' wprs gpyhwn dkrwb' wdbqth knph dkhd b'sth' wknph dkrwb' 'khrn' dbqth b'sth' 'khrth' wgpyhwn dbmtseth byth' nqypyn khd lkhd
He set the cherubim within the inner house. The wings of the cherubim were stretched out, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the middle of the house.

ܘܩܪܡ ܐܢܘܢ ܠܟܪ̈ܘܒܐ ܕܗܒܐ ܣܢܝܢܐ

He overlaid the cherubim with gold.

ܘܠܟܠܗܝܢ ܐ̈ܣܘܗܝ ܕܒܝܬܐ ܐܟܪܟ ܗ̈ܠܩܐ ܘܓܠܦ ܒ̈ܛܠܐ ܘܟܪ̈ܘܒܐ ܘܕܩ̈ܠܐ ܘܫ̈ܘܫܢܐ ܡܢ ܠܓܘ ܘܡܢ ܠܒܪ
wlklhyn 'swhy dbyth' 'krk hlq' wglp bTl' wkrwb' wdql' wshwshn' mn lgw wmn lbr
He carved all the walls of the house around with carved figures of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, inside and outside.

ܘܠܫܬܐ̈ܣܘܗܝ ܕܒܝܬܐ ܩܪܡ ܕܗܒܐ ܡܢ ܠܓܘ ܘܡܢ ܠܒܪ

He overlaid the floor of the house with gold, inside and outside.

ܘܠܬܪܥܐ ܕܒܝܬ ܡܩܕܫܐ ܥܒܕ ܬܪ̈ܥܐ ܕܩܝܣܐ ܕܡܫܘܚܬܐ ܡܫܪ̈ܪܝܢ ܦܪ̈ܘܣܬܕܘܗܝ ܘܡܥܫܢܝܢ
wlthre' dbyth mqdsh' ebd thre' dqys' dmshwkhth' mshrryn prwsthdwhy wmeshnyn
For the entrance of the inner sanctuary, he made doors of olive wood. The lintel and door posts were a fifth part of the wall.

ܘܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܬܪ̈ܥܝܢ ܕܩܝܣܐ ܕܡܫܘܚܬܐ ܘܓܠܝܦ ܥܠܝܗܘܢ ܓ̈ܠܦܐ ܟܪ̈ܘܒܐ ܘܒ̈ܛܠܐ ܘܕܩ̈ܠܐ ܘܫ̈ܘܫܢܐ ܘܩܪܡ ܕܗܒܐ ܘܐܣܓܝ ܥܠ ܟܪ̈ܘܒܐ ܘܥܠ ܕܩ̈ܠܐ ܕܗܒܐ
wthryn threyn dqys' dmshwkhth' wglyp elyhwn glp' krwb' wbTl' wdql' wshwshn' wqrm dhb' w'sgy el krwb' wel dql' dhb'
So he made two doors of olive wood; and he carved on them carvings of cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold. He spread the gold on the cherubim and on the palm trees.

ܘܗܟܢܐ ܥܒܕ ܠܬܪܥܐ ܕܗܝܟܠܐ ܦܪ̈ܘܣܬܕܘܗܝ ܕܩܝܣܐ ܕܡܫܘܚܬܐ ܫܚ̈ܝܡܐ ܘܡܪ̈ܒܥܝܢ

He also made the entrance of the temple door posts of olive wood, out of a fourth part of the wall,

ܘܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܬܪ̈ܥܝܢ ܕܩܝܣܐ ܕܫܪܘܝܢܐ ܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܣܛܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܚܕ ܬܪܥܐ ܓܠܝ̈ܦܝܢ ܘܬܪ̈ܝܢ ܣܛܪ̈ܘܗܝ ܕܬܪܥܐ ܐܚܪܢܐ ܓܠܝܦ̈ܝܢ
wthryn threyn dqys' dshrwyn' thryn sTrwhy dkhd thre' glypyn wthryn sTrwhy dthre' 'khrn' glypyn
and two doors of cypress wood. The two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.

ܘܓܠܦ ܟܪ̈ܘܒܐ ܘܒ̈ܛܠܐ ܘܕܩ̈ܠܐ ܘܫ̈ܘܫܢܐ ܘܩܪܡ ܒܕܗܒܐ ܫܦܝܪ ܓܠܦܐ
wglp krwb' wbTl' wdql' wshwshn' wqrm bdhb' shpyr glp'
He carved cherubim, palm trees, and open flowers; and he overlaid them with gold fitted on the engraved work.

ܘܒܢܐ ܠܕܪܬܐ ܓܘܝܬܐ ܬܠܬܐ ܣܚ̈ܦܝܢ ܕܦܣܝܠܬܐ ܘܣܚܦܐ ܕܟܪ̈ܡܬܐ ܕܐܪܙܐ
wbn' ldrth' gwyth' thlth' skhpyn dpsylth' wskhp' dkrmth' d'rz'
He built the inner court with three courses of cut stone and a course of cedar beams.

ܘܒܫܢܬܐ ܪܒܝܥܝܬܐ ܐܫܬܣܬ ܒܝܬܗ ܕܡܪܝܐ ܒܐܝܪܚ ܐܝܪ

The foundation of Yahweh’s house was laid in the fourth year, in the month Ziv.

ܘܒܫܢܬ ܚܕܥܣܪܐ ܒܐܝܪܚ ܬܫܪܝ ܐܚܪܝ ܕܗܘܝܘ ܝܪܚܐ ܬܡܝܢܝܐ ܫܠܡ ܒܝܬܐ ܒܟܠܗܝܢ ܨ̈ܒܘܬܗ ܘܒܟܠܗܘܢ ܥܒ̈ܕܘܗܝ ܘܒܢܝܗܝ ܠܫܒܥ ܫ̈ܢܝܢ
wbshnth khdesr' b'yrkh thshry 'khry dhwyw yrkh' thmyny' shlm byth' bklhyn tsbwthh wbklhwn ebdwhy wbnyhy lshbe shnyn
In the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, the house was finished throughout all its parts and according to all its specifications. So he spent seven years building it.
